The Roundtables 2024
The Roundtables is THE largest yearly gathering of traders, processors, and consumers in the recycled materials industry for the purpose of setting up the deals that will dominate the next year. This two-and-a-half-day event features massive networking opportunities in tandem with expert market analysis. This sets the perfect stage for you to get the information you need, connect with the right people, and set your organization up for success for the year to come.

If you deal in copper, ferrous, aluminum, electronics, nickel, stainless, or any other recycled material you must attend The ReMA Roundtables.
Registration fee is per person and includes participant materials, continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, and entry to the Monday, September 23 networking social. Participants are responsible for lunch at their own expense.

Welcome and Introduction


Andy Golding is the Chief Strategy Officer at Kripke Enterprises, Inc., a role he has held since 2005. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Golding graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He and his wife Cami have been married for 20 years and have four children: Joey, Benny, Sammy, and Sophie. He is an avid runner who loves traveling and cooking. He previously served as president of ReMA’s Northern Ohio Chapter and most recently chaired the association’s 2019 and 2020 annual convention and exhibitions.

Rosa Jaramillo is a second-generation recycled metal processor and trader and has over 35 years of experience in the recycled and base metals industries. She is the co-founder of GLOREM, a firm that focuses on developing recycled and base metal marketing and procurement programs to increase the use of recycled metals and achieve more robust supply layouts.

Beatriz Landa
Vice President, Metal Procurement & Recycling, Novelis North America

Beatriz Landa is the Novelis North America Vice President over Metal Procurement, Planning & Recycling. She is responsible for implementing and executing the regional strategy on purchasing and planning metal and achieving the company’s sustainability targets. Landa joined Novelis in 2011 and has held many roles across the organization, including plant manager of the Greensboro, GA plant as well as Strategy Director and VP of Specialties.

She is a founding member of Women in Novelis (WiN), Novelis’ first employee resource group and is an active advocate and mentor for women developing their careers and honing their leadership skills at Novelis.

In 2020, she received the STEP Ahead Award from the Manufacturing Institute. The award recognizes women in science, technology, engineering, and production who exemplify leadership within their companies and communities.

Prior to Novelis, Landa was a senior associate with McKinsey & Company and an associate tax lawyer with Baker & McKenzie. She holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a bachelor’s degrees in both law and business from Icade, Universidad Pontificia de Comillas in Spain.

Adam Shaffer
Assistant Vice President of International Trade and Global Affairs, ReMA

Electronics - Moderator


Adam Shaffer is the AVP of International Trade and Global Affairs at the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA), the U.S.-based trade association representing U.S. recyclers. In this role, he oversees global advocacy efforts for U.S. recyclers and represents the industry internationally at the United Nations, the OECD, and other global organizations. Shaffer is also responsible for federal advocacy efforts in the U.S. related to international trade and foreign affairs. Prior to joining ReMA, he led trade policy efforts at the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and worked for a boutique international trade law firm before that representing U.S. steelmakers. Shaffer holds a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degrees from George Washington University and a B.A. in International Relations from American University.

Liabeth Yohannes
International Policy Analyst, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Lia Yohannes is an International Policy Analyst in the International Branch in the U.S. EPA’s Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery. She covers a range of international waste policy issues, with a focus on the Basel Convention and related issues under the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and plastic pollution as part of the U.S. delegation to the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution.

Prior to joining EPA’s waste office, Yohannes worked in the pesticides and research & development offices at EPA. She has international experience working in the fields of conservation, economic development, and education in Latin America and East Africa and is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese. She earned dual master’s degrees in Environmental Policy (MPP) and Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development (MS) from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Wesleyan University.

Craig Boswell
Co-founder and President, HOBI Interntational, Inc.

Craig Boswell is co-founder and President of HOBI International, Inc. In this capacity, Boswell has been extensively involved in the design, development, and deployment of electronics demanufacturing and recycling techniques. Boswell’s background includes nine years of experience as an electrical engineer for Texas Instruments, Inc. As a member of Texas Instrument’s engineering staff, he managed electronics design projects and was extensively involved in development and deployment of electronics manufacturing techniques. Boswell holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Dallas, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

In addition to his managerial duties, Boswell is HOBI’s chief industry consultant on demanufacturing, design for disassembly, and reverse logistics programs. Walter Alcorn
VP Environmental Affairs and Industry Sustainability at the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)

Walter Alcorn is Vice President for Environmental Affairs and Industry Sustainability at the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). Alcorn manages legislative initiatives impacting consumer electronic product recycling, design, repair, packaging, and hazardous materials restrictions for CTA. Prior to Alcorn Walter co-founded the National Center for Electronics Recycling and was a nationally recognized consultant for public and private sector clients supporting development of state and corporate electronics recycling systems. Outside of CTA he serves as a local elected official on the Fairfax County, Virginia Board of Supervisors.

Brian Shine
CEO, Manitoba Corporation

Brian Shine is CEO of Manitoba Corp. and former national Chair of ISRI (2018-2020). A fourth-generation nonferrous metals recycler, his company operates two plants: Lancaster (Buffalo), New York, and St. Louis, Missouri, with a primary focus on processing high-grade copper scrap. Brian has held many leadership positions within ISRI, including membership committee chairman, audit committee chairman, and member of the board of directors. In addition, he served as president of the ISRI Empire State Chapter from 2004 to 2006. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and also a certificate from the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at the University of Buffalo, where he has since mentored a dozen candidates through the program. He also is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and a graduate of Leadership Buffalo.

Aldo Jordan
President, The Metals Agency

Aldo Jordan is the founder and President of The Metals Agency, a company that provides international services in metal commodity trading, logistics, banking, and hedging. Jordan’s expertise stems from nearly 20 years of ferrous and nonferrous recycling experience in yard operations, commercial purchasing, international logistics, and commodity sales. For 12 years Jordan worked for one of the nation’s largest recycling companies – Radius Recycling – in several executive management positions: Nonferrous Manager, Commercial Director, Regional Director, and Director of Nonferrous Sales. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, an MBA certificate from Loyola University (Chicago), and post-graduate certificates from University of Madison Wisconsin, University of California at Berkeley, and Wharton Business School. He resides in Northern California with his wife and two sons.

Bret Biggers
Senior Economist, ReMA

Economic Outlook - Moderator


Bret Biggers is a senior economist at ReMA. He collects, analyzes, and disseminates information on recycled commodity trends. He is the staff liaison for the Paper Division, Plastics Division, and the MRF Committee. Other efforts include the ReMA Specifications Circular, ReMA Recycling Readiness Tool, ReMA Recycled Materials Industry Yearbook, Trade Committee, and Market Access Working Group.

Biggers has addressed economic, markets, and sustainability issues throughout most of his career, authoring articles and producing reports. He has worked at the National Waste & Recycling Association, Flexible Packaging Association, and consulted in the trucking, chemical, and specialty printing industries.

Kristin Dziczek
Policy Advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago

Economic Outlook - Speaker


Kristin Dziczek is a policy advisor in the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s research, policy, and public engagement division. Her research focuses on the economic impacts of the transition to low-carbon and automated transportation. Dziczek served as the senior vice president of research at the nonprofit Center for Automotive Research (CAR) from 2005 to 2022. Before that, she was the associate director of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center and worked for the U.S. Congress, International Union UAW, and General Motors Corporation. Dziczek received her B.A., M.P.P., and M.S. all from the University of Michigan.

Joe Pickard
Chief Economist and Director of Commodities, ReMA

Global Markets - Moderator


Joe Pickard serves as the chief economist and director of commodities at the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) where he conducts research and analysis on commodity and scrap market developments and the key economic role that recycling plays in the U.S. and abroad. Pickard regularly provides information and insights on the primary and recycled iron and steel, nonferrous metal, paper, plastics, and electronics markets to ReMA member companies as well as to industry associations, policymakers, the press, and the public.

As a current member of the Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee and Industry Trade Advisory Committee No. 5, he serves as an advisor on issues related to the trade of recycled materials to the Commerce Department and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Pickard previously served as the economist for The International Copper Study Group in Lisbon, Portugal and as a research analyst at Slayton & Associates in Alexandria, VA. He previously worked at nonprofit organizations including the Urban Institute and the Pew Charitable Trusts. Pickard holds a master’s degree in Economics from Virginia Tech, a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Loyola University Maryland, and also studied at George Mason University and K.U. Leuven in Belgium.

Josephita Harry

Josephita Harry, is the Vice President, Sales in the nonferrous division at Pan American Zinc, in Miami, FL. Harry graduated from the University of Madras with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Instrumentation. She has over two decades of experience in international business with 10+ years in the metal recycling industry. Her passion for recycling began with a school project in 1995 called “Clean Up India,” which led her to participate and win at the national level as a young child scientist. Today, Harry oversees all nonferrous trading for Pan American Zinc. She is currently serving as Chair of ReMA’s Trade Committee, Co-chair of ReMA's Women in Recycling (WIR) Council and Director-at-Large in ReMA’s Southeast chapter. Additionally, she serves as Chair of the Bureau of International Recycling's Electrics, Electronics, and EV Batteries committee.

Jonathan Christensen
Policy Analyst, U.S. Department of Commerce

Global Markets - Speaker


Jonathan Christensen is a policy analyst specializing in steel imports with the International Trade Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He supports the mission of the agency through the administration of the United States’ steel import licensing program and public steel import monitors. He is also proud to work with the Department on the publication of recycled material data and trade trends. He previously completed his graduate education at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey in International Trade and Economic Diplomacy.

Dave Bestwick

Dave Bestwick has been with Dominion Nickel Alloys for 16 years. Prior to his time with Dominion, he was a manager in the melt shop of a steel mill in Western Pennsylvania. He has served in many ReMA roles, including Co-chair of safe operations, Empire Chapter President, and currently as the Chair of the Nonferrous Division.

Frank Santoro
CEO, Cronimet Corporation

Frank Santoro started his career at the David J Joseph Company in 1989, after a short stint with DJJ he spent five years at Franklin Iron and Metal in Dayton, OH. In 1995, he took a position as a stainless trader at ELG Metals in McKeesport, PA. In 1997, Santoro left ELG with his then-boss Juergen Mross to team up with Cronimet GMBH to start Cronimet USA. Santoro was COO from 1997 until 2008 when Mross retired as CEO and Santoro took on the position and remains CEO today.

Jason Martineau

With a tenure of 25 years in the stainless steel market, Jason Martineau has held various positions including Inside Sales Manager, National Sales Manager, Regional General Manager, and most recently, Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing. His academic credentials include a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Lehigh University and an MBA from DeSales University.

John Sacco
President and Owner, Sierra International Machinery

As President and Owner of Sierra International Machinery, an industry leader for the sale and support of processing equipment for the metals, waste, and recycling industry, John Sacco has been an integral part of the recycled materials industry since the late 1980s. In addition to his leadership at Sierra, Sacco has an active role with the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) serving a two-year term as the association’s national chairman in 2010-2012.

George Adams

George Adams is CEO & President of SA Recycling, in Anaheim, CA. He has been in the recycled materials business since 1977. Originally started by his father over 50 years ago as a single facility in Anaheim, Adams Steel merged with Sims Metal Management in 2007 to form SA Recycling. Adams earned his JD degree from Western State University. He is a member of the American, California, and Orange County Bar Associations. Adams served as Chair of the Recycled Materials Association from April 2008 until May 2010. He is the author of Create the Connection: 25 Surefire Strategies for Success in Leadership and Life. Adams resides in Orange, CA with his wife Joan.

Frank Cozzi
CEO, COZZI RECYCLING LLC

Frank Cozzi’s expertise ranges from operations, sales, and marketing to executive and administrative leadership. He has over 45 years of experience in the ferrous and non-ferrous recycling industry and is a past chair of the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA).

Prior to Cozzi Consulting, he served as Vice President of Metal Management, Inc. from 1997 until 2004. In addition to his role at Metal Management, he was President of Cozzi Iron & Metal, Inc., where he and the Cozzi family developed the operation into a respected leader in the Chicago market. Cozzi is also a partner with Cozzi Consulting Group. He graduated from the Owner President Management program at Harvard Business School in 1991 and is an active alumnus. He is also actively involved on the Board of Managers of the Valentine Boys and Girls Club of Chicago.

Registration on or before September 3 and for ReMA 2024 Roundtables is required for the opportunity to secure a hotel reservation at the discounted ReMA rate. Discounted rooms are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Individuals will receive an emailed confirmation once registered and this confirmation will include detailed information regarding next steps for how to reserve a hotel room at the discounted ReMA rate. Registration for The ReMA 2024 Roundtables is required for eligibility to reserve a hotel room at the discounted ReMA rate.

Registration Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be submitted in writing on or before August 30. Individuals who cancel in writing by the deadline will receive a full registration fee refund minus a $50 administrative fee.

ReMA will provide a refund equal to 50% of the registration fee for registration cancellations made in writing after the August 30 deadline. Written cancellations should be emailed to Registration@recycledmaterials.org.
