ISRI VP of Sustainability Cheryl Coleman to Address South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus Meeting

Student Opportunities for HBCU, NACU, Trade School, and Community College Students 

(Washington, DC) – The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), the Voice of the Recycling Industry™, announced that Vice President of Sustainability Cheryl Coleman has been invited to speak at the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus meeting on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. ET in Columbia, S.C.

Coleman will speak about the ISRI program she leads that focuses on providing apprenticeships, internships, and fellowships to students enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Native American Colleges and Universities (NACU), trade schools, and community colleges.

“As a former South Carolinian and graduate of Hampton University, I’m honored to speak to these distinguished leaders about the launch of this exciting ISRI program,” said Coleman. “By providing apprenticeships, internships, and fellowships at ISRI member companies, our members will develop a talent pipeline for employment needs while offering students opportunities to utilize their education and being inspired to learn more about recycling’s valuable role in the world.”

Coleman has over 40 years of experience in leadership and management of environmental regulatory and sustainability programs. Prior to joining ISRI, she served as a Federal Senior Executive at US EPA Headquarters and as a Division Director at the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).

“South Carolina students and citizens will benefit from ISRI’s program,” Coleman said. “And support by the Legislative Black Caucus will foster the growth and development of the workforce at the state level, growing the state and increasing the quality of life.”
