ISRI Statement on Nomination of Monica Medina as Assistant Secretary of State for OES

(Washington, DC) -  The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) today released the following statement on President Joe Biden’s nomination of Monica Medina to serve as Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES). Medina is the founder and publisher of the Our Daily Planet environmental news platform. She previously served as deputy undersecretary of commerce and special assistant to the Secretary of Defense.

ISRI welcomes the nomination of Monica Medina to be Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs.  She will lead a dedicated team of bureau officials with whom we work to promote recycling’s essential role in the environment and to promote trade of commodity-grade recyclables in support of the circular economy and the fight against climate change.  We look forward to working with Ms. Medina as she lends her credentials to forward the State Department’s critical work in international environmental negotiations.

Following nomination, Medina will proceed through the formal confirmation process.
